Santa's Big Arrival!

Santa arrived at the Children's Museum on Friday morning! He arrived and was the first to go down the Yuletide slide...he had lots of eager kids anxiously waiting! Cameron didn't know what was going on! He just knew that his museum had been transformed into a Winter Wonderland.

After Santa came down the slide, lots of snow came falling from the ceiling...this was Cameron's FAVORITE part.

After all the excitement, we went to the new "Jolly Days" exhibit. Cameron is going to LOVE it! We only stayed for a bit, it was very crowded, hot and my Mom and Kevin were with us and needed to head back home. But Cameron got to meet Mrs. Claus, ice skate, meet a reindeer and play with some penguins!

Just a couple more pics...Cameron decorating his tree in his room and taking a bath. He takes "oatmeal" baths that's why the water looks dirty. Lots of fun days for this special little boy!

Quick Update...

Cameron's appt. is scheduled for this coming Monday at 11 a.m. We had fun today putting up a Christmas tree in his room and decorating it (will post pics later). We're still working on the big one downstairs. But him and I had lots of fun going through all the Christmas stuff today. We had plenty of time since he did not have a nap ALL day. What a little stinker...I'm exhausted!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Cameron's Appt.

Cameron's Dr.'s appt. that was originally scheduled for Monday, was moved up to today. This was the appt. made to discuss his growth. We talked about his eating habits and discussed his growth while looking at his growth chart. He was 19 lbs at his 1 year appt. and has gradually gone up, but the last few appt.'s just seems to be stagnant...at 22 lbs. Most of these visits are not "well baby visits", but just visits we've had for other issues, but they still monitor his weight. Cameron at one point was near the 50th percentile for weight and has slowly been dropping and is now in the 5th percentile. The Dr. is really pushing for more milk and more calories. I finally got Cameron to drink the Horizon vanilla box milk...yeah! Those have 190 calories per box!

Dr. would like to see Cameron back in 6 weeks (Jan. 7th) to see how he is progressing. Would like to see him at 24 lbs. I know we can get him there!!! I couldn't help but ask if he is not growing, what could be some of the possible problems. He mentioned he could be anemic and then....cystic fibrosis came up. I heard nothing more after that...Cystic fibrosis has always been in the back of my head because it always comes up on the internet when I'm looking up Cameron's symptoms. Cystic fibrosis, for those that don't know is a chronic respiratory problem. The Dr. said that it is now a required test for newborns, and Cameron did have the test at birth and it was negative, but it could still be a possibility...the results are not 100% accurate. So, I mentinoed to him that I never wanted to bring it up because he didn't, but he said sure, it could be a possibility (but it could also be a number of other things...including nothing being wrong at all). But we are really hoping the slowing of his growth has to do with his picky eating and lack of milk intake. Dr. said that the CF test is pretty simple and suggested we go ahead with it so we could rule it out, especially because it's something that's always in the back of my head. So we have to go to Riley Children's Hospital for the test. Not sure when it will be yet, the nurses have to call and schedule it. They will wrap a band around his arm to make him sweat and then test his sweat. If he doesn't put on a little more weight in 6 weeks, we will have to do blood tests to screen for potential problems. Hopefully this wont' be necessary at all!

So we will keep you posted to let you know when his test is scheduled. I can't help but to be scared for my baby! He was such a good boy all day today, was so good the whole time we were at the Dr. I think he is finally starting to like it there. He played cars with the Dr. today and even tried sharing his snacks! Ok, will update soon!

My little peanut...

Cameorn continued to not feel well yesterday. He woke up covered in puke! I felt so bad, he had thrown up all over his crib...I knew he was coughing, but didn't know he threw up during his coughing spells. He continued to throw up and have diarrhea throughout the day yesterday. I called the Dr. in the afternoon and they told me he probably had some type of stomach virus and just to wait it out. He was so miserable yesterday afternoon and evening. Thankfully he slept through the night, but was coughing persistently, even after several treatments.

This morning wasn't much better with the coughing. I'm always scared because of his sensitive lungs that a simple cough can develop into something more severe since he has had pneumonia. So just to be on the safe side we went to the Dr. I brought M&M's because I knew the Dr. would have a hard time listening to him breathe without some type of treat. It worked...and thankfully his lungs sound good despite his horrible cough. YEAH! So just some sort of virus...he had a low grade fever, but no worries. Just needs lots of rest!

We've talked about his weight in the past, but the Dr. wants to see us back in 2 weeks to just talk about that. Cameron was only 22 lbs. today...he had lost 2 lbs. since his last appt. a couple of weeks ago. There's no doubt in my mind it was because he hasn't had anything in almost 2 days! I'm going to feed him when he wakes up...hopefully he has an appetite and it stays down! But the Dr. said that Cameron is no longer on "the curve" whatever that means. I know he is little, but we need to fatten him up a bit. The Dr. seemed concerned, I hope everything is ok with our "little peanut". The Dr. did say in the mean time to make sure that he is drinking at least 20 oz. of whole milk a day (even if I have to add chocolate syrup)! Cameron drinks very little milk everyday, probably around 5 oz. and still warm in a bottle. Just doesn't like it much. I've even tried the Horizon vanilla milk, it is so sweet...that works a little better than regular milk, but still not that interested. He does like yogurt a lot, so that was always my justification for the lack of milk intake...but that has to change! He suggested buying a fun cup just for milk. So a "Lightning McQueen" cup might help along with some chocolate! So we will go back on 11/23 to address his weight and development.

Getting so BIG!

Cameron is going to be "2" in February, I can't believe it! It just hit me today, my little boy is getting so big! I'm going to have to start planning another birthday party soon!

So I started Christmas shopping for Cameron...now I have an excuse to shop! I bought him a Lightning McQueen Power Wheels car. I'm so excited for him to see it! He is going to absolutely LOVE it! There's no doubt in my mind it will be worth every penny! Lightning continues to be one of his favorites. He is constantly saying "Lightning", it is so cute. He doesn't even talk that much yet, but he sure knows Lightning. He absolutely loves cars right now...trains are his second favorite. Here is a picture...so cute, right?
Also last week, Cameron and I stood in a line for 3 hours for the H1N1 vaccine. Yes, that was 3 hours! Lonnie met us after 2 hours, and brought some more entertainment (DVD player). He was pretty good considering, but it was a little rough especially since I made him stay in his stroller. We went to a free clinic since his Dr's office still does not have the vaccine and they are not sure if and when they will get it. So hopefully we will be able to go to his Dr. for the second dose in about a month. If his Dr. doesn't have it we will probably not get the second dose as recommended for little ones. It really is ridiculous what you have to go through to get vaccinated. Lonnie kept saying the whole time, "This is what it will be like with national healthcare"...not enough vaccines, long lines, etc., etc., scary!

We also enjoyed some time at the museum and playing outside...we know our days outside are limited...the cold weather is quickly approaching! Today is pretty nice and we spent the morning outside, but Cameron is coughing alot today, so we did a breathing treatment before his nap and we will probably stay in the rest of the day so he doesn't get too worked up. He also got a haircut this afternoon, he always looks so grown up after he gets a haircut. Looking forward to another fun week with my little boy!

Trick-or-Treat....

We had so much fun taking Cameron trick or treating! Boy, what a difference a year makes! Last year, he sat still in his wagon just taking it all in. This year, he was all over the place. He got the hang of it right away. We would go to the door and people would give him the bowl to pick a piece of candy and he would dig right in with those cute little hands. He would say "Mom" after each piece as if to say, "Look mom, I got more candy!" He was just too cute. I will never forget it!

Cameron's grandma Lucy and grandpa Kevin joined us this year. I know they had lots of fun too! I'm glad they joined us because we each had a job to do to keep up with Cameron and Andy!

Here are some cute pics of Cameron ringing the door bell and then trying to trade his M&M's for some skittles...I don't think I'm going to be able to take him for a walk again!

Our cute little spider...

My mom came last Thursday night, so Cameron was happy to have her here the past few days. And she got to see first hand that Cameron does not like to sleep! He did not nap much at all this whole week! Yesterday, we all took "shifts" with him in his room. I was determined for him to get a nap in so he would have fun at night trick or treating. We started the process around 2. I went in there with him, rocked him for a bit until he was too fidgety and then put him in his crib...which is what I normally do. He played around in his crib for a while and then was ready to get out after about 30 minutes. Normally, before we started having problems, he would play for a bit and put himself to sleep. My mom felt sorry for him so she went in there and rocked him and then put him back in his crib and laid on the floor while he played. Lonnie then went up there and rocked him, until he didn't want to be held and then let him play in the dark, while he fell asleep in the chair! He eventually put Cameron in his crib again and he fell asleep for about 30 minutes. He got up at 6:00. So basically this went on for 4 HOURS! But guess what, he is sleeping NOW!
Sleep deprived Baby!
Hope everyone had a fun Halloween and a nice weekend! It's getting cold outside!
